Training Compliance

Hi all,

Occasional reader, first time in a long time poster. Do you give consequences to those who fail to maintain compliance training for example, IACUC and health and safety training? If so, what are those consequences? How do you get folks to comply to complete their training on time when requested?

Thank you,

Hello Kari,

The mandates for completing required training must come from the IACUC. There should be a policy written to state acceptable time. Our policy was updated not too long ago to add individuals to the protocol after they complete CITI online training and OEHS training. Then the training program will be notified, and an email is sent to the individuals with instructions on how to complete the animal side of training. They only need to attend training if they are going to work unsupervised or perform survival surgery. Some will start training but may never finish or no show for classes they register for. Emails go out to the individual and the PI, sometimes multiple times. I would like to see more people comment on what they do.
