Training Program Feedback

Hello,

My institution has been working to revamp our training programs for our animal husbandry. We have had several trainees complete the program and would like to gather feedback from them to see what things worked and where we can improve. Ideally, we would like to create a form/survey that is open ended so that it could be applicable in an array of different scenarios. Does one have something like this for their training program? If so, how do you get trainees to actively/openly participate?

Yes, that helps a lot. These are excellent, thank you!

AALAS Study Materials

Hello! We are reimagining how we provide AALAS study materials for our care staff. What book distribution plan do you have in place at your animal care and use program? Thanks in advance :)

Thanks, Jessica! I’m at Penn with a pretty large program (~47,000 rodents and other species) with around 140 care staff. It sounds like our certification supports are the same. How big is your program? How many care staff do you have?

Synthetic Materials Used For Surgery Training

Hi all! For those involved in hands-on surgical training at your institutions, I would appreciate your insights regarding the synthetic materials or substrates you utilize to teach fundamental surgical concepts—such as tissue cauterization, hemoclip application, and similar procedures. Thank you in advance for your input!

What are your training requirements for non-animal users that are on a protocol?

Hey Kyleigh,

We require online training (Citi modules) for non-animal users added to protocols. Our primary reason for this is that researchers working at any level on a protocol should have a good understanding of the responsibility of working with animals.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks,

Nick
